Advocacy and Support Services

  • Promote prevention activities and interventions that data indicate have better outcomes for youth and are more successful in reducing crime and violence.
  • Promote expansion of programs that provide support services and physical and mental health treatment for youth.


Leadership Development

  • Strengthen the organization's regional profile supporting youth and family-centered, evidence based, and culturally proficient services.
  • Initiate and facilitate opportunities for youth to build community support networks.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with government and policy makers across a range of portfolios such as: economic policy, education, employment, foster care, health care, housing, immigration, juvenile justice, law enforcement, mental health, public health, and social policy to promote productive and supportive services for incarcerated youth and youth in foster care.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with local communities and family networks.
  • Build a web of strong interpersonal relationships between the juvenile and adults, and between and among juveniles themselves.


Education and Training

  • Promote education and self-discipline through the acceptance of behavioral norms established and reinforced by positive peer groups or authorities.
  • Develop multicultural community outreach models for communities and family networks promoting youth and family strengths.
  • Develop programs and services that bring structure, purpose, and motivation as well as a constructive sense of community to the lives of young people whose environment is otherwise lacking in these elements.


Research and Policy Development

  • Develop a policy-oriented information and research program that supports the development and implementation of youth and family-centered, evidence based, and culturally proficient approaches serving incarcerated youth and youth in foster care.
  • Develop policy positions, information and strategies to address major and emerging issues in juvenile justice and child welfare.
